Book Report: The Hobbit

Book Report: The Hobbit

I have been enjoying reading so many thought provoking books but felt it was time for something lighter.  Reading is often times a search for knowledge, perspectives and opinions but it can also be a time to relax and unwind.  So with that in mind, I picked up a class, The Hobbit.

The Hobbit is a mystical tale about adventure, treasure and friendship.  It has also assisted in enlightening me on the differences between hobbits, dwarves, elves, trolls and goblins.  Plus, I learned more about dragons, a subject on which my previous knowledge had been lacking.  Apparently they love gold and jewels, which was unknown to me but upon bringing up the subject of dragons with someone else here I was immediately told of dragons admiration for treasure – confirming this must be common among dragon based literature.

There are some heartfelt lessons of over coming your fears, making new friends, and the perils of greed.  Overall, this was a mental escape from Yankton and a trip through the forests, by rivers, up into the mountains and deep within dragon lairs that provided a nice reprieve from the daily grind.
